I wish Publish0x gave more visibility to non-crypto related articles...

I know, this project emerged from the minds and hands of a (great) team of crypto enthusiasts.

I know the early adopters, and probably the big majority of the current 253k+ users come from the crypto world.

And I assume most of the articles published every day are related to crypto, and I know for a fact these are the ones generating the most tips.

But that's not all there is on Publish0x.

Here, I found very talented musicians and photographers, great recipes and beautiful poems, interesting sports analysis and thrilling travel adventures! I just wish these were easier to find... I don't know about you, but I used to rarely venture into the "Explore" tab, aka the only place this kind of content is listed. This means I could only ever find this varied and super interesting content if I'm lucky enough to be around when it's posted, meaning if I see it in the "new" tab. Now, I'm reminding myself everyday to go look there first to see what kind of hidden treasures I can find.

They're never the most popular articles, so they wouldn't show in the popular tab, and the homepage is coded to only refer to crypto content, and this is not random, it's a choice.

A random internet user arriving on this page would have no idea that they can read and write about anything and everything at all on this great platform. A great blogger who is not really versed into crypto would have no idea that they could actually get paid for publishing their content here.

All the categories showed, all the links at the top and even the top menu buttons mention "crypto" or crypto projects, but there's so much more to Publish0x than this! And, in my humble opinion, having a "Crypto" link in the menu, when the homepage and the "Popular" page are already filled with all the crypto articles anyway feels a bit redundant... Even the "You may also like..." recommended articles that show up on top of a page after you give a tip seem biased: I literally just tipped a post related to wedding photography, and was recommended other posts I might like about blockchain development and DeFi...

It's a shame really cause there's so much potential with this project, and such a very real opportunity to grow even more, and all it would take would be a less scary homepage (for non crypto people) and a more diverse and accurate representation of what actually goes on on the platform for newcomers. Just so that every article gets the same chance of being read, and every topic gets the same kind of representation, a fair share of the cake. I actually know plenty of people who I advertised the platform to and who got turned off by how crypto-centric it looked when they first arrived on the website...

My general feeling is that Publish0x is stuck between two strategies and can't make up its mind: being a 100% crypto related environment, which is what it looks like today when you see all the buttons, links, shortcuts, categories, content in focus... and being a 100% diverse environment, which it technically is, because you're allowed not to talk about crypto. But if you choose to do so then you're on your own and the platform, as it is now, won't help you and won't promote you as much as other authors. Crypto authors simply have a bigger voice here, and other authors with great quality content have to work way harder to get even a fraction of the views and tips the former get with sometimes simpler articles.

I truly believe giving more visibility to non crypto related posts while removing some redundant shortcuts to crypto pages would be beneficial to the platform while not altering its crypto content at all, since the majority of writers and readers will still be talking about crypto anyway and looking for crypto content. But using the categories that we can find in the "Explore" page to list top articles in each of them on the homepage and the "Popular" page would make such a big difference. It would help authors who don't write about crypto get more (deserved) visibility for their great content, and it would encourage more outsiders to join the platform because they'd know what they could find.

Anyway, that was just me venting, I don't pretend to have any right to recommend changes to the team of course, nor do I feel that I can speak on behalf of all authors! I originally joined because I'm a crypto enthusiast myself, but today about half of my posts are related to finance/crypto and the other half to other more diversified topics, so I'm witnessing every day the kind of representation my posts are getting or not. But none of this changes the fact that I truly enjoy this platform and I'll keep using it to write about all of my favorite topics, crypto or not :)
