Lithuania is a small country in Eastern Europe. As a country it saw good and bad things: from being one of the biggest kingdom in Europe to being occupied by numbers of country’s, including the Soviet Union.

In those dark days then Soviets ruled, Lithuania managed to open their first Zoo Park in 1938 year. On the opening day the park had only 40 animals, including 5 Foxes, 3 Elks, 2 Wolves, 1 Reindeer, 1 Grey Heron and 1 White Stork. Next year there were 110 new animals.

Now the park got around 2000 animals and 400 species. 250 species from there are in the red list of threatened species.

As a child, I used to spend a lot of time there. It was like a paradise, green, huge and with lots of interesting animals. Even I used to think I will work here as a grown up.

But now it looks to me a bit old, neglected, and animals more like prisons than happy inhabitants. But hey, I don’t know how they feel for real, maybe they are well-fed, healthy and happy?

My dream is to visit one of the oldest zoo park in the world – London zoo park.

I hope you liked this small photo article, and let me know about zoo parks around your place, and that do you think about zoo parks, should they exist, or better for animals to live in wilderness?
Yours faithfully,
Merlins_Grandson.
