Tezos is very similar to Ethereum , conceptually. In fact, recent developments at Tezos have caused many to wonder if Tezos could actually outperform Ethereum in the coming days.
Arthur Breitman, co-founder of Tezos in a recent podcast explained how Tezos differs from Ethereum , what problems they think should be fixed and resolved in Ethereum , shared his thoughts on the much discussed ETH2.0 and if it could really help Ethereum with its current shortcomings. He stated,
“ Tezos has been in a test network for many years now. There are proposals for a forthcoming fourth. In terms of protocol development, Tezos does better than ETH . We worked on sharing and having it as a very high scalability. At first glance, everyone uses Ethereum , but I think few use ETH . "
Another fact to note here is that Tezos is already working on Proof-of-Stake [PoS], while Ehereum has not yet made the change. Commenting on this, Breitman recently said it was "frustrating" to hear people refer to Ethereum as a PoS project when the change had not yet been made. “ Ethereum has been waiting for PoS for a very long time; I remember having this conversation in 2016, ”he noted.
That said, ETH2.0 remains the most talked about topic in the crypto community at the moment. The launch is scheduled for July 2020, in a month, and given that there are no recent updates on ETH2, many are beginning to doubt that ETH2.0 will actually be launched this year. If ETH2 does not launch this year, the continued development of the Tezos ecosystem could in fact end up surpassing ETH in many ways. Interestingly, the Tezos chain governance model could also work in favor of the coin over the ETH off-chain model . In fact, many traders consider this self-mechanism of Tezossolves the governance problem, which is a reliable alternative to ETH .
On the other hand, however, ETH 2.0 researchers and developers have pointed out that this delayed launch was due to the fact that the team was focused on solving each problem, with no stone unturned. To put things in perspective, the competition between Ehereum and Tezos is neck and neck for the moment, and things will only be clearer with the launch of ETH2.0
