While most citizens struggle to make money, government employees get very good salaries, pension and bribes. This makes them a soft target for fraudsters who wish to make some quick money and are aware that victims of cybercrime find it difficult to get any help.
A government employees was interested in a part time job to increase his his income, so he applied for the job. Initially he was asked to like Youtube videos and was promptly paid in his bank account.
After gaining his trust, he was asked to do a task of transferring money to a bank account using UPI, and it was being converted into cryptocurrency for better returns. After some time, he became suspicious and asked for his money, but was asked to transfer money again.
He then realized he was being duped and decided to file a complaint with the cyber police, who are investigating the case.
Increasingly fraudster are making payment initially to gain trust and then looting people of their hard earned money, often promising high returns investing in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies .
