Being the Tortoise

Being the Tortoise

By onewolfe | onewolfe | 26 May 2022

If I am anything in the Crypto world it is probably a tortoise.

I say that in reference to the old tale of the Tortoise and the Hare. Now, I'm not saying that I am going to win the race, more so just that I move slow, though I have done considerably better than some people I know who tried to day-trade Crypto their way to riches. I haven't been invested in Crypto all that long, I didn't hold any crypto until the beginning of August last year. I had always thought Crypto was interesting but hadn't realized how much it had grown since it began until I started hearing about NFTs and P2E games. I spent a month or two researching P2E games as that is something I always wanted to be able to do, play games and actually own my items and earn money from trading them. My research eventually lead me to biting the bullet and getting into Splinterlands, a battle card game on the Hive blockchain.

After I paid my $10 to unlock the P2E features of Splinterlands I really enjoyed it and soon discovered there was MUCH more to the Hive blockchain. Multiple games, blogging platforms, NFT markets, and even a robust second layer token market, not to mention the amazing community that can be found there. I've fallen in and out of engagement with blogging and my general activity, as life dictates, but the last few months two new things that I'm very excited about have happened.

The first one requires a bit of a longer explanation than the second, so here it goes: Like most Crypto groups a large majority of general conversation happens in discord, I happened to find an an AMAZING community called PIZZA which is centered around the PIZZA token, a second layer token on the Hive blockchain, PIZZA has grown considerably since I joined it boasting several dozen channels, several community events weekly, and thousands of members just in the discord. Now for the exciting (at least to me) part, a couple months ago PIZZA started sponsoring select community members in P2E games as a part of their gaming guild and I was lucky enough to be selected to be a part of the program. This opened the door for me to be able to get into a P2E game that it would have taken me a while to be able to get into.

The second thing is about a month ago the Scholar and Scribe community was founded on Hive. This is a community that is focused entirely on creative writing on the Blockchain and has two tokens for that community which can be earned through writing and curating posts within the community. Since that has started I have had a great place to post chapters of the book I am writing where I am able to get feedback from other community members and earn a little while I write. There are constantly developments going on for Splinterlands, PIZZA, Scholar and Scribe, and even Hive in general with new projects, partnerships, and updates coming out and I don't have the space to get into it all here. If you haven't checked out Hive I would definitely recommend you go peek around the different Dapps and Communities that can be found.
