Hello fellow Cointipliers, and everyone else!
Referral systems are a widespread feature of many online platforms including crypto faucets. It's a monetary incentive for users to recruits new users and for bringing additional revenues to the faucet platforms via "free" advertising - a true win-win. Recruiting as many referrals as possible is always a good idea, passive revenues are the best ones. I don't have any exact numbers but based on the Referral Contest Leaderboard some users on Cointiply must have hundreds, if not thousands, of referrals.
The key factor, however, is to recruit active referrals. Since your commission is solely based on your referral's earnings, one active referrals can be worth dozens of barely active referrals. After about 8 months of very regular activity on Cointiply I have recruited a few referrals myself. But just how good are referrals? And, are they earning me any coins?
On Cointiply, the incentive for referring new users is nice, but not the best.

25% on referrals' faucet rolls is anecdotal. Depending on your referral faucet payouts (Cointiply doesn't pay the same in all parts of the world), their faucet cointiplier, and the frequency of their claims, you might be making anywhere from 2 to 75 coins per day.
10% on referrals' offerwall earnings is where the money could come from. 10% isn't a lot but active users can earn tens of thousands of coins every day this way. Based on my activity, I'm earning about 200,000 coins every two weeks on average. That would be 20,000 coins every two weeks for my referrer. I have made over 3 million coins from offers and surveys on Cointiply so far. I don't remember if I got in via a referral link or not, but if I have a referrer, he/she would have earned over 300,000 coins (+ change from my faucet claims) just from me. But not all referrals are active, far from it actually...
My Referrals
I don't know how standard my referrals are, and it may depend on how you recruit them, but let's take my referrals as a representative sample.
I currently have 18 referrals. I remember how excited I was when my first referral signed up. 17 referrals later I realize that the number of referrals doesn't matter much, their activity/engagement is all that matters. In the end, and unless you have hundreds of them, referrals act like a little bonus at the end of each day and I'm grateful for any coins I earn this way. Let's see what my 18 referrals are all about.

Right away, you can see what I was talking about: 18 referrals, 2 active referrals this week, 6 coins earned for that day (this is a particularly inactive day). If users leave they profile public you can see some of their activities, at least their levels and boosts/items they are using. When I look at my referrals 1 by 1 I can see the following:
- 3 were never active. They didn't even earn a single coin. They registered and did nothing.
- 9 were a "one-of". They used the faucet once or twice, and never came back. They are level 1
- 3 were mildly active. They are somewhere below level 20. To get there they are, or were, a little bit active and earned a few thousands coins.
- 1 of my referrals was a little more active and is currently level 40.
- 2 have their profile private so I can't directly tell how in/active they are.
With this, the only way to estimate the overall activity of my referrals is to take a look at my daily earnings from my referrals. Here is the most recent. It oscillates between 6 coins and 458 coins earned every day. Given the low numbers, these gains probably only come from one or two referrals most likely only claiming their faucets from time to time.

A few months ago, I was averaging 500 coins a day from referrals. At that point, maybe one of them, probably the one that climbed to level 40, was completing a few surveys every day.
Conclusion
I'm assuming my referrals are like any other referrals, and like any one of us giving Cointiply, or other faucets, a shot - most people won't find it attractive and won't stick to it. I totally understand and respect this.
While referrals are the best way to pure passive income, it will take an army of them to consistently make 10,000 coins (just $1.00) per day. It's also possible that how and where you recruit your referrals helps predict/increase their activity. And finding the one gem, very active referral, can make up for 50 mildly active referrals, but you can't really chose. Some referrals may also be inactive for a long period of time before suddenly rediscovering the platform. That was my case, 6 months after signing in for Cointiply and after being totally inactive I rediscover Bitcoin faucets and worked my way up to level 50 in less than 3 months.
It always worth trying to recruit new users if you can, at least to spread the word of crypto, but it won't substitute to you earning your own sats.
