You might have gotten a few winks

And your heart failed to connect in a blink

Out of fear - fear of failing

That has gripped you from realizing your true potential

You are not as hopeless as you think

You are only as hopeless as you allow yourself to be

A lot of people would rather be pitied than to step up

It's easier to be pitied, they think, but only if they know

Being pitied means you are at the mercy of others

It means your expectations would rise with others

And sadly enough, they won't be able to fulfill your expectations

It makes you keep going down the rabbit hole of despair

Sinking at a faster rate than normal

Step up and let your dreams attract people to you

It's a long journey with a lot of bumps ahead

But I would rather control my narrative than to be pitied

You are not as hopeless as you think you are

You are just failing to see opportunities in little things

Most people want a big break at all cost

Forgetting that those tiny openings can give you the big breaks

You are not hopeless, you are just not looking critically enough
