There is no stopping the inform Kelechi Iheanacho. He picked up his form at the right time for Leicester City especially when they needed goals and when they needed another angle to threaten their opponents. Iheanacho has been in a sensational form of late and the self-acclaimed 'Senior man' is showing no signs of stopping.
Leicester City came from behind to beat Crystal Palace at home much to the delight of Brendan Rodgers. The win opens up a 4 points gap between them and Chelsea while closing up on Manchester United to 5 points. Crystal Palace stays in 13th place though they still have a game in hand.
Crystal Palace got off to a flying start when Eze played through Wilfred Zaha in the 12th minute. It was an inch-perfect pass and he converted beautifully too, 1-0 the score.
Leicester City knew what was at stake and the second half presented a new and improved Leicester City. A long ball found Iheanacho in the box. He expertly controlled the ball, turned and laid a pass for Castagne in the 50th minute. He wasted no time and he blasted the ball into the back of the net to give renewed hope to Leicester City. It was a beautiful goal into the top left-hand side of the post, and the parity has been restored in the 50th minute, 1-1.
Crystal Palace should have been ahead if not for the bravery of Johnny Evans. Jaïro Riedewald was played through and he raced on goal. While being one on one with the goalkeeper and he should have taken his shot, he opted to find the onrushing Benteke who before he could strike a shot, he was blocked off by the impressive Johnny Evans. What a tackle. What a time. What an intervention.
Jamie Vardy thought he had given his side the lead when Iheanacho received a pass in the box. He turned but was unable to hit a clean strike and the ball managed to get into the path of Vardy who buried his chance but the flag went up for offside. It was the right call.
Not to be denied for long, Leicester City went ahead for the first time in the game in the 80th minute when another lofted long ball found Iheanacho. He raced into the box, brilliantly turned and held the ball. He drove in and released a thundering left-footed strike into the top right-hand side of the post from a tight angle. What a strike, what a goal and what a perfect time to strike it. The in-form man gave his side the lead, 2-1. He has now scored 14 goals in 14 appearances.
Crystal Palace would rue that earlier miss and the bravery of Johnny Evans cannot be forgotten there too.
The game ended 2-1 and Leicester City is doing everything to guarantee their place in the Champions League for next season. No one can say they don't deserve it. The race for the top 4 keeps heating up as either Chelsea, West Ham or Liverpool would miss out. Tottenham has played themselves back into the fray and Everton cannot be discounted too but Arsenal is nowhere near in sight.
