The sound of panicking and agony; Boom!
Which I thought will last for a short time
and our roses will again bloom.
But Boom! this was what made even the deaf run,
and the blind shudder home,
it is a sound of war; a war that may never end,
for where we've found ourselves,
the thunderous boom spells out doom!
After the thunderous sound,
comes the loud low continuous sound,
like our intestines have begun to feed on themselves for survival,
and the worms feed on our warm empty stomach.
The stomach rumbling as our faces knit into frowns,
our clothes revealing the patches on our trousers and gowns,
and the sun ceases not to scorch our pale slim skins,
for where we are, our constant music
is now the rumblings of our stomachs.
And then the run for our unsafe safety,
hashtag End SARS, hashtag Justice For Uwa,
hashtag End Rape, hashtag Say no to corruption,
killings, suicide, frustration, as the new motto of the nation,
for how long shall we hide and continue
to protest and protect ourselves against our supposed protectors?
Our fatherland, our beloved nation, is now a fierce nation
and we are her citizens, we've become as fierce as the nation
and this baton, we pass to the next generation.
