Since the beginning of time, there have been many forces at play; forces that want to centralize or decentralize the globe.

(Centralization)

Banks, governments, and other institutions are trying to centralize the world by controlling fiat currencies, people's rights, and other ways we express and transact amongst ourselves.

(Decentralization)

Cryptos, the Internet, and other tools are facilitating freedom of thought & actions, transactions between parties without a middleman, and allowing individuals to act as a sovereign nation without the need for a nation or government.

CENTRALIZATION:

What is centralization?
Centralization is a type of system where one figure controls the behavior of many figures underneath it.
Centralization is a type of system where one controls all.
In other words, there is a center to all the outer connections; or everyone reports to one central figure in charge.

Why is centralization a good thing?
Centralization is a good way to keep an organization on the same page. By reporting and acting according to the command of one central figure you can avoid having many voices distort the main message you are trying to send. By having fewer voices involved you can also act without delays as you do not need to check with anyone else whether your actions are approved by the rest of the organization.

What are the weaknesses of centralization?

The biggest problem with centralization is that if the central figure in control dies or becomes incompetent there is no one capable of replacing it since there is only one leader. This makes centralization a very fragile system in extreme situations such as wars or pandemics because it can take a long time to replace the missing central figure since no one is ready or trained to step up and replace them.

DECENTRALIZATION:

What is decentralization?
Decentralization is a type of system where every individual in the system has an equal amount of control or say.
Decentralization is a system where all control is all. In other words, it is without a center; all connections are made and shared without a centralized location for any localized point.

Why is decentralization a good thing?
In a decentralized organization, every member has an equal say/vote and has an important/equal role to fill therefore allowing higher points in a system more space/time for higher processing of critical information allowing greater and faster growth for the rest of the web.
What are the weaknesses of decentralization?
In decentralized webs [enough]
disagreements or disconnections can create delays or stops due to the importance of each connection to the overall whole. In certain decentralized systems, each connection requires more resources to run reliably.
The best system is not the best for everyone, every individual will require different needs for their system or organization to operate efficiently therefore it isn't a question of which one is your favorite, but what works best for you.
Neither centralization nor decentralization are evil on their own, and each can be used for ill differently.
