Storj IPFS Service for NFT Storage
It is no secret that NFTs have exploded over the past 12-18 months. How do you protect your NFTS? Would you be upset if they were lost or stolen? If yes, read on to learn how to protect your NFT assets.
Who is Storj? On of the top crypto-powered cloud storage platforms. Storj runs its software and rents unused hard drive space to users looking to store files. For top notch security Storj audits its network through a random file verification every hour, which ensures its files are consistently being hosted by storage nodes. Talk about running a tight ship! Below is a snippet of the Storj constructs:

They are located on Peachtree street in Atlanta, GA - In Atlanta there are 78 streets named Peachtree...so good luck finding their offices. (See what I did there I tied in the 'lost' context with their HQ address; silly I know).
What have they built? thru their DCS (Decentralized Cloud Storage) Storj is now offering a 'pinning' service using InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), a decentralized protocol to allow for long term performant storage for NFT's (Non-fungible Tokens) additionally, content addressable storage in dApps found in Web 3.0. The pinning service will be for Storj's enterprise grade decentralized storage changing the NFT storage game overnight.
Why is Storage Important for NFTs? NFT owners demand immutability, permanence, and resistance to tampering. Put another way, fast and secure! Wonder if BAYC owners wish they used this Beta offering prior to this week?
Who is IPFS? InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) is a protocol and peer-to-peer network for storing and sharing data in a distributed file system. The IPFS pinning service packages and stores the content on DCS with its global network of over 13,500 nodes in 100+ countries, providing assurance that the data pinned is durable. It can endure data center outages/fires, environmental disasters, and geopolitical unrest and their assured attempt at confiscation (it's in the tyrant handbook, they have to)
How does it work? A combination of DCS & IPFS to generates an IPFS content address (CID) and then upload to DCS. Where it is 'chunked' and spread out over the Storj cloud nodes.

Use Cases: Wondering aloud if the Ukrainian NFT Museum will utilize this service offering? Enterprise treasuries could in theory use this service to hold NFT's. Individuals are sure to use to secure their NFT's.
Summary - Storj is decentralized and immutable storage. The IPFS pinning service is reliable, permanent over long-term, and fast to retrieve and share if so desired. Their new joint Pinning solution will be a game changer for NFT storage. I will wait till this moves out of Beta mode to general availability (GA) and make use of it.
Disclaimer - I am not an employee nor an agent of Storj or IFPS, although it sounds super exciting!
