Are Cops still chasing down Silk Road Dealers?
Apparently, the US Dept of Justice (DoJ) is still active and seizing BTC
For instance, in January, 749 BTC were seized in West Texas (net worth @ $62.5M), during the raid the DoJ also seized Gold in Bar and Coin formats. The pair was linked to illicit 'drug' operations on the Silk Road. No charges have been filed against those detained in West Texas, at this point.
Let's recap, the FBI brought down the Silk Road back in October 2013.
Earlier this year President Trump pardoned Silk Road Founder Ross Ulbricht and the US DoJ is still tracking and detaining those who dealt with illicit items on Silk Road. Ross reportedly owned 600,000 BTC, I have not been able to uncover will he get all, some or none of those BTC. Or could some of them end up in the US Crypto Strategic reserve?
Summary
The wheels of US Justice grind slowly, but they down grind finely. Wondering aloud how many more stories like this we will hear this year?
