I think what to do
and it doesn't occur to me
another holy idea
what to think about you
to read a good book
or write a poem.
I think I can
think about you and at the same time
write a poem.
But it also occurs to me
walk long hours
By the field, sit
under a leafy tree
and watch the clouds go by
Constable's anthropomorphic figures.
Also, not a bad idea
walk around the neighborhood
with the smell of sex and tulips
in the flower shops on the street.
Or just sit
on a square bench
and wait for them to breathe
the stars
Maybe fix your gaze
in the old yellow clock,
watch the hours crumble,
feel the weight of the night
on the eyelids or slide
under the dried sheets
under the sun and smell like spring
in your arms.
