Behind everything there is always Time.


Just as nothing could be sustained or exist without the primordial foundation of the planet, Time is the arbiter, the supreme and sovereign judge of all human judgments.

Ethics and aesthetics, that is to say: the good and the bad, the beautiful and the ugly, are perhaps the most recurrent themes of Humanity.

And if we dare to think about it carefully, ethical and aesthetic questions may be the only questions open to discussion by Man: controversies, anguish, crimes, corruption, irritability, profanation, tenderness, love, justice and injustice, the relationship with my parents, returning or not returning a jacket to someone, taking a trip, going to the dentist, choosing the neighborhood where we would like to live, talking behind someone's back, etc. All this apparently heterogeneous conglomerate of human acts can be reduced to two elementary sets A and B: ethics and aesthetics.

Time would be the definitive set C that contains both. Time is the territory that makes possible the two and only geographical accidents with which Humanity has always dealt, the binomials good-bad/just-unjust.

This means that our moral (ethical) opinions ultimately rest on the category of Time. The same with our aesthetic judgments: they are accidents within time.

And this has nothing to do with subjectivity or relativity or perspectivism. Man never speaks of anything other than time, but he does so through the sets A and B. Only when he finds himself facing abysses, situations that put him face to face with death, does Man then refer directly to set C: Time.

So Death, that other great human theme, contains in turn all the other sets: A and B (accidents) are supported by C, which is enclosed in set D: Death.

But Death, which is the great theme of human culture, would be impracticable without life. What is not alive cannot die. That is why Life is more than death. It is the mother.

Then the set D is regulated, contained and subordinated to the set E: Life.

Thus, when Man speaks of death, even when he seeks death, he is only seeking Life, because we agree that Life is behind Death: it is the superior set.

Thus, when Man discusses Moral or Aesthetic issues, he is, without knowing it, discussing Time, and when he speaks of Time he speaks of nothing else but Death. But since Death is not the definitive set, Man, without knowing it, is never speaking of Death when he speaks of Death because Death is subordinated to the ultimate and supreme set, E.

Thus, the only subject that humanity has spoken of, and the only subject that humanity speaks of in the last instance is always Life.
Life, that set that contains all sets, is the only subject that we speak of.
