In the area of Vignola there is a quality production of different varieties of cherries.

In the Italian language there are two words to indicate the fruit of the cherry tree (Prunus avium): "ciliegia" (the plural is ciliegie and it is a feminine word) and "durone" (the plural is "duroni" and it is a masculine word). In generally speaking the word "ciliegia" is more used while "durone" is not so diffuse in common language: not in Vignola! Near the libra, there are "duroni"...

... these are "ciliegie". Their proper name is "Morette" (the singular is "moretta"): that means "Blackies" and is one of the more traditional varieties produced in the area of Vignola (and my favourite one).

These trees produce "duroni". (Maybe outside the area of Vignola they would be called "ciliegie").

Generally "duroni" have bigger fruits of different colors depending on the specific variety ...

... and the trees are grown smaller.

"Morette" are smaller rounding fruits, sweeter, and grow on taller trees. You have some difficulties in seeing them as they are ripe.

They are very dark, small, but sweety.

These ones are not cherries. This plant is another species (Prunus cerasus). In particular this the variety called in Italian Language: amarena.
It is in my father's garden and maybe next week I will pick the fruits. The grid was put on to prevent birds to eat all the fruits.
