The name of this mushroom is not accidental, because this mushroom is associated with a skullcap, which most often has a characteristic pattern on the very tip. In this case, of course, it is about the top of the hat.

Often the fungus can be found in home crops, in pots, flowers, while in nature it occurs throughout Europe and North America, mainly in deciduous forests.

The mushroom does not reach impressive dimensions, its hat reaches a few centimeters in diameter, no specimen larger than 3 cm has been found.

The young mushroom is semicircular, bell-shaped, but opens with age. The hat is whitish in color, covered with small brown scales, and there is a small hump on the tip of it.

The fungus is very fragile and brittle. The flesh is very brittle, and the leg, up to 7 cm, is delicate and slender. You can see a small ring on the white, cylindrical leg.

The white plates are very delicate. The flesh does not have a distinct smell or taste. With age, the hat delaminates and frays at the edges, which can be clearly seen in the photos.

There is insufficient scientific data on the suitability of the mushroom for consumption, so it is assumed to be inedible and sourcing is not recommended.
