This beautiful translucent goblet-shaped mushroom is common in Great Britain and Ireland, as well as throughout Europe and North America. It is also reportedly found in Japan.

The fungus chooses quite peculiar places to live. They are often after bonfires, in gardens where there is a lot of organic debris, at landfills, composters.

It grows most often in small groups on a sandy substrate, but rich in humus. In Europe, it appears in early spring and grows until autumn.

The young mushroom has a spherical shape, with a small hole at the top. With age, however, it opens more and more and takes the shape of a bowl, a cup.

The size of an adult mushroom does not exceed 4 cm in diameter. The color is yellowish, ocher, translucent. The edges of the cap are jagged and serrated.

The mushroom also has a small stem that is up to 2.5 cm long. The color of the stem is identical to that of the entire mushroom. Clear grooves and furrows are visible on the surface of the mushroom.

The mushroom is inedible. Its flesh is delicate and brittle without a distinct taste and smell.
