Although this toadstool is edible, not everyone has the courage to collect it. The more that this species has several color varieties.

It can be completely white (albinistic), it can have a gray or yellowish tint. This, among other things, causes concerns about collecting this species of mushroom for consumption.

The hat can reach a diameter of about 12 cm. The edge of the cap has characteristic stripes visible even at young fruiting bodies. The surface of the cap is usually smooth, free of residue. During the rainy season it is slippery and shiny.

The leg has a cylindrical shape and is covered with white villi. It does not have a ring, which also distinguishes the mushroom from toadstools.


The gills are white, densely spaced and wide. The flesh is also white with a nice mushroom taste and smell.

The mushroom is very common and can be found in every forest in summer and autumn. Prefers sandy, alkaline soils. It is an edible mushroom, but is rarely harvested due to fears of poisoning.
