Frequent walks in forest glades, meadows and forests mean that many things are missing from the diversity and richness of vegetation. Most often we look at the glades, generally admiring their beauty.
However, it is enough to crouch to see much more. A plant with three colors of flowers caught my attention. The photos show purple-blue and yellow, but the mature plant is still red-orange.
The discovery took place in Jura Krakowsko Częstochowska. It interested me because it was the first time I noticed her, or maybe it was just the first time I stood by her. I picked a few flowers and asked the locals what was that flower? It turned out that it is a medicinal plant, which is commonly called "Day and Night" .
Locals have been using it for centuries for various purposes, usually in the form of infusions. The plant has many antibacterial compounds, it is used to treat skin inflammations, problems with muscles and joints. It is successfully used in the treatment of a dangerous disease caused by a tick bite - Lyme disease.
