
Volvariella gloiocephala - A hat with a diameter of 80 to 120 mm, initially obovate, bell-shaped, later flat with a small umbo at the top; surface smooth, naked, silky, after mucus rain; whitish, shaded color with a darker center, smooth edge.
Lamellae quite wide, thick, free at the stalk; whitish, then pinkish, browning.
Stem 50 to 180 mm high, 10 to 25 mm thick; long, slender, tapering to the bottom, ending with a deeply embedded tuber in the ground, around it a distinct, leathery, baggy envelope - the rest of the total, whitish sheath; the surface of the stipe is whitish, rough in the youth, later silky and smooth.
The flesh is whitish, soft, unchanging. Taste and smell unpleasant, slightly musty, radish.
Occurrence: grows singly or in groups, in groups, from spring to autumn; in parks, gardens, meadows, arable fields, cemeteries, by roads; not very frequent.
Value: Mushroom, but with a low flavor value.
