
Tuber magnatum - Mushroom diameter 30 to 100 mm. In the shape of a spherical with numerous dents and bulges. White, yellow-beige, light-beige, yellowish-white, sometimes with a greenish shade.
Peridium, 200 to 400 μm thick, with a smooth surface or somewhat rough, covered with poorly marked low warts.
The soil is initially whitish, later yellowish, flesh-colored, and in the mature state reddish with white veining. Taste and aroma very aromatic, according to some slightly reminiscent of garlic or chives.
Spherical or spherical globules, reticulate-angular, characterized by a very thick, wide-mesh reticular, with dimensions of 25-50x20-40 μm. Bright, yellow or yellow-brown.
Occurrence: Under deciduous trees, oaks, lindens, poplars, willows, on soils containing calcium. From summer to winter. A species known from Italy and France. In Poland, its occurrence is unlikely.
Value: Edible fungus, with a great aroma, very much appreciated by foodies.
