
Tremella foliacea - Mushroom width from 30 to 120 mm and a height of 15 to 50 mm, often the size of a fist. Dark amber, cinnamon-brown, flesh-colored to red-brown, after drying almost black-brown. Irregularly spherical in shape, first muscularly pleated, later patchy, composed of irregular, wide, wavy curled, leafy and curly curves rounded at the edges. The whole surface of the fruiting body is covered by hymenium.
The gelatinous, dark amber-colored to red-brown pulp. During drying, it shrinks and keratinizes, with sufficient humidity it swells again.
Occurrence: Mostly on dead wood of deciduous trees, e.g. birch, beech, bird cherry, maple. It is quite rare in Poland. It grows throughout the year, but above all in the cold season.
Value: Edible fungus, after a short scalding, it is suitable as a salad mushroom, but it does not have an excellent taste.
