Spinellus fusiger - Anamorpha (asexual fruiting phase) has the form of a white mole of hypha - these are numerous stems called sporangiophores, ending with spherical sporangia called sporangium. A single such branch is in the form of a pin. The stems are thin, whitish, translucent; the growing hypha grows at the end and the head arises, initially white, as the spores ripen, blackens. Inside, sporangia spores form, their development proceeds in stages when they mature - the sporangia wall dissolves and the spores are released.

Occurrence: Most often parasites on mushrooms of the genus Mycena. Uncommon.

Value: Inedible.
