
Megacollybia platyphylla - Hat diameter 40-180 mm; initially hemispherical, quickly spread. Surface dry, smooth, with age radially fibrillose, brindle, even cracked; usually gray-brown, but sometimes variable - from whitish to black-brown; the shore is sharp, with age wavy.
Lamellae very broad 10-30 mm, rarely set, transversely veined, sinuate adnate; with notched, serrated, jagged and sometimes dark brown ciliated blades; off-white, cream-colored.
Stem 50-150 mm high, 10-25 mm thick; dry, initially full, with age empty, longitudinally grooved; white, yellowish or gray-brown in color. At the base, well visible whitish, with age blackening, long, thick, branching cords of mycelium (rhizomorphs).
Watery pulp, quite thin, compact, white, unchanging. Odor imperceptible, mild taste, can be a bit bitter.
Occurrence: In deciduous and mixed forests, on decaying, sometimes buried soil, deciduous, less coniferous wood. It grows singly or in groups of several; from June to October. Quite common.
Value: Unaffected fungus.
