Gymnopus ocior - Mushroom 3-10 cm in diameter, dark red-brown, ochro-red, hygrophanous initially bell-shaped, then spread, smooth. Often on the surface rust-stained.

Lamellae - broad, densely set, reddish, sometimes with rusty spots.

Stem - cream to flesh, closer to the base with dark brown spots. longitudinally furrowed, spindle-like rooted, often twisted.

Flesh - whitish, phylloelastic, lazy taste, unpleasant odorous smell.

Occurrence - quite common from summer to autumn in large clusters of hummocks in deciduous forests. At the base of trunks and on the roots of live oaks and beeches, less often on dead wood.

Application: inedible.
