Amanita regalis
A hat with a diameter of 50 to 250 mm, initially bulbous, closed, later hemispherical, finally arched to an open; liver-red, yellow-brown, umber-red in color, usually darker at the top, older specimens on the edge of the ribbed; a dry surface, a little shiny with whitish, ocher-yellow patches, usually concentrically arranged.
Gills thickly set, free, white, cream-yellow; young covered partly with a yellowish cover.
Stem 80 to 300 mm high, 15 to 35 mm thick; brittle, cylindrical, tubular; at its base it ends with a tuber with several rows of ocher, crumbly, papillary rollers, rings - shield remains; white, yellowish.
The ring is pronounced, large, whitish, yellowish, with edges colored yellow or brown.
Flesh whitish, under the skin of the cap yellow, yellowish-brown, in the stem yellowish, pale-yellow; unchanging, with a weak, undetermined odor and mild taste.
Occurrence: In mountain and foothill spruce forests, on acidic soils, sometimes in pine forests, only exceptionally in deciduous; grows individually or in groups. From July to October.
Value: Poisonous mushroom, causes isoxazolic poisoning, neurotoxic.
