Winter and late autumn mushrooms - Tremella mesenterica (yellow brain, golden jelly)


t3.jpg     Tremella mesenterica - other common names are yellow brain, golden jelly fungus, yellow trembler, witches' butter. It is a common jelly mushroom. Most often it occurs on dead branches and recently fallen branches. Jelly-like, orange-yellow. The mushroom fruit reaches a diameter of 7.5 cm. It is sticky when wet and hard when dry.

    Flesh - jelly-like, the color of the whole mushroom, does not have a distinct taste or smell.

    Occurrence - It grows in the crevices of the bark, appearing in rainy weather. This fungus is common in deciduous and mixed forests and is widespread in temperate and tropical regions, including Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America. Value: Inedible mushroom.
