Występuje na obszarze całej Polski, w pobliżu otwartych terenów, gdzie są sosny i świerki. Jest w Polsce gatunkiem chronionym.

It builds nests in tree tops from thin sticks and fresh twigs. The female lays up to 6 bluish brown-speckled eggs. Incubating takes over a month, and the young leave the nest also after about 1 month.

Gniazda buduje najczęściej w koronach drzew z cienkich patyków i świeżych gałązek. Samica składa do 6 niebieskawych jaj nakrapianych brązowo. Wysiadywanie trwa ponad miesiąc, a młode opuszczają gniazdo również po około 1 miesiącu.
