The hat is gray, silver-gray, sometimes delicate cream inserts, with a pointed tip, striped. Diameter up to 8 cm. The surface of the hat is dry, prone to cracking. The gills are dense, light gray, they darken with age. Stem, widening downwards, white or gray, length up to 12 cm, thickness up to 2.5 cm. The flesh is white, with an earthy odor, sharp and bitter.  

    Occurrence: In coniferous forests, mainly pine forests, also spruce forests, with a lot of lichen or moss, on sandy soils. Fruits singly or in groups, often found from summer to late fall, sometimes even in December.  

    Value: Poisonous fungus, may cause nausea, vomiting, stomach pains.  

EN   NOTE: easily confused with an edible species such as gray, misshapen goose (Tricholoma portentosum), I advise against collecting inexperienced mushroom pickers.
