Little-known edible mushrooms - Ivory waxy cap (Hygrophorus eburneus)


wod0.jpg     The mushroom cap can be up to 10 cm in diameter. White, cream, beige on a semicircular hump. During the rainy season it is slippery and slimy and sticky.

    The gills are creamy white or white, quite thick, slightly converging. Leg cylindrical, widening downwards, hollow, smooth white. It has no ring. The flesh is white, brittle and very tender.

    Occurrence. The fungus grows from late summer to late autumn in deciduous and mixed forests, mainly under beech trees. It grows mainly in groups.

    Application: Ivory waxy cap, very tasty. Can be used for cooking, frying, marinating. It is not suitable for drying.
