When I first decided to see what all this crypto hype was about, I didn't want to risk losing my own money.
Especially since I didn't know anything about the crypto world, I decided to search the web for ways to get to know how it all works, without actually taking any risk. I quickly found quite a few sources of free crypto, but as most of you will know, most of these are scams. There are however a few good sources of free crypto out there.
1. Coinbase earn
Most of you will already be familiar with Coinbase earn, but just in case you're not I will explain a bit more. It's probably the best free crypto source out there, all that is required is setting up an account with Coinbase, authenticate your account and answer a few easy questions. Before you know it you have earned some free crypto! It can take a while before you get of the waitlist, but it's definitely worth it. By now I've claimed over 50 dollars worth of free crypto, without investing any time. I check Coinbase regularly just in case they add another free coin.
2. Brave ads
Brave is a great browser for anyone who cares about their privacy. It blocks any trackers or ads a site might have, and is incredibly easy to use. On top of that, you can enable Brave to send you notifications every once in a while (you decide how much), and in exchange for these ads, you gain some BAT. I've completely switched to Brave, both on mobile and pc. I earn a couple BAT every month without doing anything. It's not a massive amount, but any free crypto is welcome in my book!
3. Algo Faucet
Algo is a great crypto for anyone who likes to build up some crypto over time. Just by holding it in your wallet you gain staking rewards, it doesn't even have to be locked up. On top of that, there is a faucet which can give you free algo every 3 hours just by clicking a button. The only requirement is that you have at least 1 algo in your wallet, which is easily doable with the other sources of free crypto on this list.
EDIT: As someone in the comments pointed out, the Algo faucet has recently been taken down. It might return one day, but until then it is no longer an option for free crypto.
4. Free bitcoin cash/Litecoin
Lastly on this list are 2 similar apps for your phone. Every hour you can press the button and gain some small amounts of Bitcoin cash or Litecoin, depending on the app. Once every week the game automatically transfers your crypto from the app to your wallet, if you have more than 10k satoshi or 150k litoshi. There are other ways to earn on the app too, by playing games, answering surveys or watching ads, but personally I just stick with the free and effortless roll you get every hour.
And that brings us to the end of my sources of free crypto! I know a couple more, but these are the ones I find most useful. Lastly I'd like to add that none of these sources will make you rich, but they can help starting out in the crypto world, and let you test out how everything works without risking your own money.
