Rally Upgrade - Use RLP Instead of $ETH For Submissions

By PVM | Mind Puzzle | 2 hours ago

I went from being a teacher to making what can only be described as a schoolboy error. Back in 2015, I sold 6.7 BTC for what felt like a decent profit at the time.

Looking back today, it wasn't profit... it was tuition. Expensive tuition and memories that come back to hunt me again and again! That moment became my crypto villain origin story.

Like many people who have been in this space long enough, I spent years replaying the decision in my head. What if I had held? What if I had understood Bitcoin's potential sooner?

What if I had simply forgotten my wallet existed? The truth is that one mistake pushed me deeper down the rabbit hole than any success ever could, and this is why I am still here today.

I became obsessed with understanding this industry, learning how decentralized systems worked, studying market cycles, exploring new protocols, and trying to understand where the future was heading.

I never looked back. In many ways... Web3 adopted me. That journey eventually led me to Rally, and wish I had push it harder when this was at the very early stages!

Rally has consistently focused on helping creators participate in the onchain economy without unnecessary complexity. No pumped leaderboards full of boted content!

As someone who spends a lot of time creating content and engaging with communities, I've been waiting for a specific improvement for quite some time.

Now it's finally here! Rally users can pay gas fees using RLP instead of needing ETH for transactions. To some people, that might sound like a small update.

To anyone who has onboarded new users into Web3, it's a massive quality-of-life improvement. One of the biggest friction points in crypto has always been gas fees.

You can explain wallets, tokens, and communities to someone relatively quickly, but the moment they need a separate asset just to perform a basic action, confusion begins.

Suddenly they need ETH, they need enough ETH, they need to understand gas fluctuations, and they need to make sure they don't run out. It's frustrating for everyone!

My biggest issue wasn't even the transaction itself. It was the extra layer of fees attached to every interaction. Those small costs add up over time and create barriers that don't need to exist.

By allowing creators to pay directly with RLP, Rally removes a major onboarding hurdle and makes participation far more intuitive. It's a simplified process that makes it better!

Creators should be focused on creating, and communities should be focused on engaging. Neither should have to think about topping up ETH every time they want to perform a simple action.

What deserves even more recognition is that Rally didn't make this change in isolation. The team listened to community feedback and delivered something users genuinely wanted.

In an industry where projects often talk about community-first development, it's refreshing to see a team actually ship improvements that directly address real user pain points.

Quality over quantity! Sometimes they're the invisible upgrades that make everything smoother. Sometimes they're the difference between a new user staying or leaving.

Users can spend 100 RLP instead of approximately $1.20 worth of ETH to submit a tweet. That might seem insignificant on a single transaction but what about thousands of interactions?

These are the improvements that strengthen an ecosystem over time. As for my 103,000 RLP bag.... if we use the rough comparison of 100 RLP equaling $1.20 that would imply $123 dollars?

Not bad for someone who once sold 6.7 Bitcoin for peanuts. PVM officially gives Rally the cookie they deserve.  Sometimes the most important innovations aren't the ones making headlines.
