Breaking Ground On My Prison Empire

Alright, so maybe the title could use a little work haha. Maybe it will make more sense as you experience this with me.

This is my second post about my life in prison, and I'll admit, it has long been over do. As unbelievable as it may seem, I actually do have quite a bit on my plate in here. And a lot of times I find myself stressing out to meet deadlines and not having enough time to do what I want to do. I haven't played Call of Duty Mobile or PUBG in weeks!!I say all that to lay the foundation for what is beginning to sound like excuses ;) lol.

Anyway, I felt like it was about time I sat down and did a little update.

So, this will make about 6 months in this facility, which is crazy to think about. A lot has happened since I last posted. I've seen someone stripped naked and made to run across the zone, I've seen someone stabbed, someone even passed away from natural causes since the last time I posted prison content. I've gotten much more adjusted to the way things are in here now. Then again, I almost feel like I just got here. Like there's no way it's already been 6 months at this prison. (Which means I've got almost 2 years completed) You can still remember the first day when it all started. So it doesn't quite feel like it's been that long. I guess if you've ever been in a "long term care facility" you may can understand what I'm saying.

While I've been here, I've been determined to use this time as best I can. I make it a point to allocate time to further my knowledge and understanding of programming, crypto trading/market trends, and Blockchain technology. I also have had the misfortune of watching value of my portfolio diminish over the past week or so with this bearish market

Now I'm a huge crypto supporter, but you gotta remember, I'm in prison and I gotta eat.

When I first got my phone, I had almost $400 in ETH and maybe around $100ish in other assets. Here I am, months later, with less about $80 between ETH, BNB, and Matic. I lost money due to ignorance and impatience. I traded for the wrong token at one point, so that was an unnecessary gas fee. I also accidentally paid entire way too much for a transaction fee that was just to cancel a stuck transaction. I was getting pretty frustrated because I knew I should have cashed out sooner.

Anyway, here I am in prison, looking for my next investment

It happened so quick. The timing was almost perfect. I had finally started making a little money selling canteen. And I was already contemplating what move I should make next. One night Roo texted me. And it began to seem as if almost everything was begining to slowly descend into place. He approached me with an offer to "invest" $200 in him and I would get $300 back in around a week  That sounds like a win right? Well just remember, this is prison. About 1 in 5 guys on my zone are sentenced to life. (Not judging at all, some of these guys are the most real people I've ever met. A few have had such an impact on me that I'll remember what they taught me for the rest of my life). My point is, most of these guys aren't above tricking someone out of money. And I was tired of losing money.

After a few months of me being here, I've seen several people move in and moved out (Albeit, sometimes a bit forcefully). One day, we get this new guy in, for this story we will call him Roo. And even though Roo moved in two cells down from me, we never really interacted.

I've learned that the smaller your circle, the less bullshit you step in.

Besides, for the most part, he seemed to keep to himself. Rather quickly, I noticed he was not only consistently able to afford making big canteen orders, but also could splurge on some of the best weed I've ever smelled. Within a month, he had a phone and was selling canteen and some of the finest Mary Jane that can be smuggled into prison. So obviously, the dude has something going on.

As you can see, I barely know this

guy when he approached me

I mean okay sure, I had bought a few honey buns from him (Which, by the way, is FIVE FREAKING DOLLARS on Cash App) and maybe even a joint here and there. We just didn't chill though, you know what I mean? More of a customer/salesman type relationship. So after about a week of me buying from him, he texted me one night about the investment opportunity. I knew I was ready to make a move, being as I was fed up with taking loses, I was even prepared to make a big move. So his timing, just seemed perfect to me.

I made the decision to not be impulsive and sit back and observe for a minute. I gave it about another week to see what he had going on. I noticed some of the"important"people in here were hollering for him often. I've always watched him recieve a few packs from another zone. Plus, he got a job in the barber shop.(Hence the Name) This means he is able to build a much more personal relationship with the gaurds and learn who he can do what around. And worst case, he can move packs himself if he needs too. So I decide he clearly has something currently in the works and it's safe enough to invest.

He is thinking outside of the box with his business model. Since monopolies on the drug market were more or less already established, I was glad to hear he had a different idea. One that involved a higher reward, with a lower risk. Instead of illegal contraband, we can get "legal" contraband. As in everyday free world legal items. Like things people in the world can sometimes take for granted.

In prison, you realize just how much you appreciate the little things.

And I'm talking the things you would never think about appreciating. Think along the lines of good soap or shampoo, gel toothpaste, a good tooth brush, and man, some freakin beard trimmers. Prison will also open your eyes to how much you lose your individuality in here. Some guys may want some chains or rings to look good for the gaurds or even to just"Treat Yo Self". These are all more or less "legal" items. So they post a much smaller risk to the gaurd and the inmate, if they were to be caught.

There was a ton of weed smoked during the several hours we spent the next few days talking business. The day we pretty much had a rough idea of what we were going to do, I ended up cashing out most of my crypto and sent it to him to invest.

We are already having discussions for a facility wide Discord Server or Telegram Channel for what is for sale, how much stock there is, and stuff like that.

Let's see where this goes, shall we?
