What do kids and the stock market have in common?

They both can be thrown off balance by absolutely trivial things!

We have all watched how Reddit threads, Elon Musk, and other random events can turn the otherwise predictable (holistically, not individual stocks) stock market into a post-apocalyptic trading zone where the rules are made up and the points aren't worth anything.

I have found that the same fragility and volatility can be found in young kids. 

Our 3-year-old can only deal with visiting family for about a week before all hell breaks loose in her subconscious. Then, all manner of things are wrong or scary suddenly. When my mother-in-law stayed with us, school was suddenly the enemy - and she cried and screamed like every drop off was to an orphanage. Now, my parents are in town and she is "afraid of the smoke detectors." 

Guys, I didn't even know smoke detectors had a random red blinking light! And where did she get that red lights are bad?

While frustrating as all hell, remember the solution is less about the damn light (though I contemplated removing it). Kids are thrown off when you deviate from routine too much. While she loves her grandparents, the family and home dynamics are unbalanced and its unbalancing to her. So we reinforce the routine, maintain discipline, and reinforce love. 

But boy... do i wish someone would tweet her a positive message about smoke detectors. I need sleep!
