I had read about one patient's inquiry in a dialysis patients Facebook group where I belong and he is just asking about the side-effects of Cinacalcet in the body.
I have learned that Cinacalcet makes the body not to release Calcium in the bloodstream thereby effectively lowering the Calcium in the blood and that itself causes hypotension.
Why I have overlooked that key factor?
My nephrologist just basically had given-up on requesting for me to accomplish some laboratory tests like blood calcium level, creatinine, etc. and I always refuse to do so all because of lack funds before.
That is why I am just prioritizing my dialysis and blood transfusions before but not monitoring the key factors that actually had made a long-term effect on my body regarding my bones in particular.
Plus today it is just not that easy to accomplish laboratory tests as I have to go to a lone-standing lab center and get my blood tested for special tests like blood Calcium level and iPTH plus my mother always refuse to heed my request for us to go.
I am also had a very bad experience in taking Calcium tablets because it made me suffer in many occasions a severe case of constipation and it is no joke. That is also why I would eat fruits after eating not minding that my body's Potassium level would go up as a compromise so that I would not suffer from constipation.
My Solution
I am not self-medicating but I will just take Calcitriol or if that is just the same for Vitamin D3 then I will continue to take vitamin D3 for that matter.
That kind of "new" therapy would cause my body to absorb more Calcium in my bones and my bloodstream. I might overdo it and cause some calcification in my body's soft tissues so I will have to monitor my blood calcium level by getting tested for it regularly.
It took this long for me to factor-in my blood Calcium level. That is why maybe my heart sometimes feels like it will stop at any time and my body to feel fatigued plus my inability to get productive with my mental abilities or thoughts.
But my Nephrologist told me that Calcitriol is "only" vitamin D3. I am not so sure about that but I will try it anyway and continue my supplementation of vitamin D3.
Now I will also double-down on my calcium supplementation and just cut back a little if I would suffer constipation and also if I had corrected my blood Calcium level which can only be seen if I would get a lab test for that.
I hope that this is the magic bullet that I am looking for so again it is another expense for me to bear but is really a necessity for me to do in order for me to finally solve my crashing blood pressure issues. I will see and experience what will happen but basically I will just double my Calcium supplementation and continue taking my Vitamin D3.
