The Honey Moon Is Over!

The Honey Moon Is Over!

Hindsight is 100% they say. In this case, I can clearly see where I should have corrected what I thought was a minor mistake, on eBay's part. It has now become a major problem, for the both of us!

Let me give you a little background information, that leads to today's major problem. Early on, when I first started selling on eBay, I listed a coin that had been graded by a minor grading service. I soon learned that eBay did not recognize this grading service, when they sent me a warning stating that the listed coin was a replica. I knew it was not a replica, but an authentic coin. After a little research and conversation, I realized that they were rejecting this coin because it was not graded by one of the major grading services. I relisted this coin, as non graded, and in a plastic holder. They did not remove the listing, because it was not listed as graded.

This is where I made my mistake, of not contacting them and having the replica coin reprimand corrected. I now have a notation, in my eBay records, as having listed a replica coin. At the time, I did not think it would be a problem. I do not sell replica coins, nor do i have a desire to do so!

Ah, but here is the rub! Today, someone reported one of my coins, as being a replica! I got an email, from eBay, saying that my account has been placed on a 3 day suspension! They had removed my coin listing and blocked all of my listings from the customers viewing! I could hardly believe what I was reading! The Coin, in question, is one of my Prized Investment Grade Coins! It is Authentic and in Very Rare Condition! It is definitely Not a replica!

So, I thought this is a mistake, on eBay's part! Someone has simply made a mistake and this will easily be corrected. All I have to do is have them call me, and we will quickly iron this out. Boy, was i mistaken! It soon turned into a night mare. The first thing, that went wrong, was that their phone call service was unavailable. My only option, was to contact them via messaging. Well, ok, messIaging it would be. When I went to messaging(You guessed it) I found that it was an automated assistant! No person to speak with!!

Well after a little dialog, with the computer, I was asked to wait 5 minutes, for a live representative. To make a long story short, let it suffice to say that things only went down hill from there. After I spent quite some time trying to reason with the eBay agent, I was forced to ask for a supervisor. All he did was confirm that he was backing his employee, no matter the facts. I even provided proof of purchase, for the coin in question! Apparently, all it takes is for someone to report one of your coins as fake, and you are immediately found guilty! No Matter What You Say or the Evidence You provide!!! Among the first words typed by eBay's agent, was that I had violated this policy before. Of course she was referring to the incorrect classification of my first warning. That was all it took for her to decide that I was in violation!

I have been offended and angered, by this affront! I am going to sleep on it, tonight. In the morning, I will decide whether I should contact an attorney or give them a call.

eBay has been around long enough that you would think they would not treat their customers in such a manner. If I were a scammer, it would have shown up long before now. All you have to do is look at my customer feedback to see that I am honest and provide great items!

We shall see what tomorrow brings!
