Bitcoin Had a Mood This Week, and So Did I

Okay so this week was a mess, let me just tell you how it went.

Monday I open the charts and Bitcoin's sitting around $82,800, still a little beat up from dipping under $80K the week before. Fine, whatever, normal Monday energy. Then Tuesday out of nowhere it jumps above $86,000, not once but twice in the same day, because apparently the CFTC floated some new crypto regulation and the SEC said something people liked. And obviously everyone in every group chat I'm in suddenly becomes a genius trader again, posting rocket emojis like they called it three weeks ago.

Then Wednesday happens and it all just falls apart. BTC drops back under $83K and almost $700 million gets liquidated in one go. I genuinely felt bad for whoever was sitting on 20x leverage Tuesday night thinking they were about to retire.

And then Thursday and Friday, honestly this is the part that annoys me the most, it wasn't even really about crypto at all. Jobless claims came in, inflation numbers were hotter than people wanted, and then oil just randomly decides to go past $111 a barrel like it's trying to ruin everyone's week on purpose. And the second oil does that, every risk asset on the planet gets nervous, Bitcoin included, so it got dragged right back down into the low $80s along with a tech stock selloff that made my whole portfolio screen look like a ski slope.

So right now we're basically bouncing between $81K and $84K depending on what hour you check, which is honestly exhausting to watch. ETFs have also been quietly bleeding money all month, nothing dramatic, just a slow leak you'd only notice if you're paying attention.

And then you've got these big banks putting out predictions that are basically opposite universes. Standard Chartered is saying Bitcoin could fall all the way to $50K before it really turns around. Bernstein is sitting there saying nah, $150K by end of year, completely unbothered. Same week, same data, totally different stories. At some point I just start laughing at how confidently wrong at least one of them has to be.

Honestly for me this week was just a good reminder not to trust my own mood as some kind of signal. Green candles and I feel like I've got it all figured out, red candles and I'm questioning every decision I've ever made. Neither one actually means anything. It's mostly oil and rates and jobs data pulling the strings right now, not some big crypto story.

I didn't make any moves based on any of this. Just sat back, watched it bounce around, and tried not to let the red days ruin my Friday.
