This week’s battle challenge focuses on the River Nymph.

A Chaos Legion edition rare level monster from the Water unit at level 3:

• Estimated cost: $1.936
• Magic attack: 1
• Speed: 3
• Health: 4
• Cleanse ability - Removes all negative effects on the Monster in the first position on the friendly team.

Three nymph monsters are now in splinterlands, with the River Nymph joining the Wood Nymph and the new Riftwatchers Coastal Nymph monster. The Wood Nymph was an older reward edition card and a popular monster due to its low mana cost and extraordinary mage-like buff abilities to aid the team.  The River Nymph is a fantastic-looking card with incredible artwork and has mage-like buff abilities. It will not be a powerhouse in battles, but it supports removing any hexes applied to tanky water monsters.

Lineup Details

• Quix the Devious (Summoner): -1 range damage and -1 speed to all opposition monsters.
• Legionnaire Alvar: primary melee tank.
• Carnage Titan: support melee tank.
• Desert Dragon + Djinn Chwala: backline melee monsters to provide protection to mage-like buff monsters.
• River Nymph + Baakjira: buff support monsters + some magic damage.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

Yes, my opposition was more robust and had higher leveled monsters, but they also had a much better strategy. I went all in on the Super Sneak ruleset and played primarily tanky melee monsters, and I didn't account that my opposition would not do the same. They decided to stack out their magic damage, and I had no answer. The River Nymph didn't stand a chance in battle but managed to survive until the end. Overall, a loss that I put down to poor strategy.

The combination of the River Nymph's abilities and magic damage attributes make it a unique monster to have in our splinterlands collection. However, this will depend on the level of your summoners, as I think to get the most out of it, you need to unlock its other abilities, which are locked behind higher levels.
