Hello HODLers!
Solana's Layer 1 (L1) network has reached a significant milestone, with its Total Value Locked (TVL) hitting $6.43 billion, a level not seen since January 2022. This surge in TVL reflects the growing confidence in the network and its ecosystem, with two major projects leading the way. Jito, a liquid staking protocol, holds $2.23 billion in assets, while the decentralized exchange Raydium has locked $1.8 billion. Together, they account for a large portion of Solana’s TVL.
Despite this impressive growth, Solana ranks third among blockchain networks in terms of TVL. Its closest competitor, TRON, maintains a slightly higher TVL of $6.94 billion, while Ethereum remains far ahead with over $48.3 billion in TVL.
In addition to the rising TVL, Solana’s native cryptocurrency, SOL, has been on an upward trajectory. Over the past 30 days, SOL has appreciated nearly 15%, bringing its current trading price to approximately $167. This price increase has pushed Solana's market capitalization to $78.23 billion, a level last seen in August 2024.
However, despite these achievements, some experts remain cautious about Solana's valuation. Analysts from Standard Chartered have recently pointed out that Solana may be overvalued compared to Ethereum, reflecting ongoing debates about the long-term sustainability of its current growth. Nevertheless, Solana’s recent surge in both TVL and token value demonstrates its increasing influence in the blockchain space, positioning it as a strong competitor to other leading networks.
