Since the beginning of the year, the total value locked (TVL) in Solana’s decentralized application (dApp) ecosystem has surged, more than tripling and nearing the levels seen on the Tron network. By comparison, Ethereum’s TVL has increased by a notable but smaller margin of 136% over the same period. According to DeFi Llama, Solana's TVL has grown by 22.23% in just the past 30 days, currently totaling around $6.64 billion. This metric had previously peaked at over $10 billion in November 2021.

Solana’s rapid growth and the possibility of achieving even greater TVL levels have prompted analysts to discuss its potential, particularly in light of potential regulatory changes. In a recent interview with Decrypt, Balaji Srihari, a top executive at CoinSwitch, expressed optimism about Solana’s future, suggesting that reduced regulatory uncertainty could enable Solana to realize its full potential. Srihari believes that with Donald Trump’s recent political win, the U.S. regulatory climate for crypto may shift, potentially softening the SEC’s stance on assets like Solana. Srihari highlighted that the likelihood of an ETF based on Solana, currently the fourth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, hinges on the complex dynamics of market conditions and regulatory approaches. In late October, Canary Capital took a step in this direction by filing an ETF application with the SEC focused on Solana.

Solana is currently trading at approximately $194, marking a 25.6% drop from its all-time high but with a recent gain of 14.2% over the past week. Tech analyst Peter Brandt has expressed bullish views on Solana, predicting that the asset could rise up to 27 times its current price, reaching $4,500 in the long term. With Solana’s rising TVL, its increasing appeal among investors, and a potentially more supportive regulatory environment on the horizon, many view Solana as a strong contender for future growth in the decentralized finance space.
