An update in the Ethereum Foundation Blog marks a date for Ethereum 2.0 genesis time, scheduled for December 1st.
However, the release of Eth 2.0 for the December 1st is subject to a fundamental condition: to trigger genesis there must be at least 16,384 validator deposits owning 32-ETH 7 days prior to December 1. If not, genesis will be delayed 7 days after this threshold has been met.
Currently (November/10/2020) 52,577 ETH have been deposited in the Deposit Contract Address designed to stake Ethereum when the mainnet will be live. ETH2 network needs to reach at least 524,288-ETH (16,384 validators) to launch the mainnet.
Do you think that we'll be able to reach the threshold of 16,384 validators by November 24th in order to see the mainnet launch on December 1st, 2020? In my personal opinion it will be postponed by a few days, but it is only a matter of days, perhaps weeks, before we see Ethereum 2.0 genesis.
