The dominance ratio of Bitcoin over Ethereum has reached its highest level in 40 months, according to CryptoQuant, a blockchain analytics company. Analysts observed that Bitcoin's dominance is currently at 78.5%, while Ethereum's stands at 19.7%, indicating a growing investor preference for Bitcoin over Ethereum. This shift in dominance began in late 2022, fueled by rumors surrounding the potential approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF, which increased demand for Bitcoin.
In contrast, despite discussions about a possible Ethereum ETF, there has been no significant increase in Ethereum's attractiveness to investors. This lack of interest is evident from the limited demand for Ethereum-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which have underperformed. Currently, Bitcoin's overall dominance in the cryptocurrency market is 57%, a rise from the 51-52% range observed earlier in the year. Additionally, Ethereum's price has declined by approximately 26% since the launch of ETFs based on the asset, further highlighting the current market preference for Bitcoin over Ethereum.
