Hello HODLers!
Today I would like to talk to you about 5 artists who have launched musical NFTs!
That's right, also because Non-Fungible Tokens are one of the most versatile innovations brought by the blockchain. Although they are best known for artistic projects such as Bored Ape Yacht Club, NFTs also hold enormous potential for the world of music. There are many artists who are trying this new model of musical NFT, and soon there will be platforms created specifically such as Napster 3.0.
But let's get to the point, here are the pioneering artists in the world of musical NFTs:
1. Snoop Dogg and Eminem
Two crypto community idols, Snoop Dogg and Eminem have been die-hard NFT fans for years. Proud owners of several Bored Ape Yacht Clubs and Mutant Ape Yacht Clubs, the two rappers saw NFT music as a way to improve the record industry and revise the relationship between fan and artist.
Just on June 24, the two rap legends released a new music video in collaboration with Yuga Labs, where they impersonate their Ape. Snoop Dogg also has various NFT music projects under his belt, and has sold 25,000 albums in the form of a non-fungible token for $ 5,000. These NFTs, called Stash Boxes, contain his new album B.O.D.R. with 3 bonus tracks for fans.
2. Mike Shinoda, Linkin Park
Mike Shinoda, Linkin Park's vocalist, has also joined the trend of musical NFTs. The lead singer of the legendary band held a NFT auction of a music clip from his single Zora. He also sold NFTs with exclusive artwork from his other single, Happy Endings.
In addition to these experiments, Mike Shinoda has also tried to educate his audience on the capabilities of NFTs, with some tweets clearly explaining what non-fungible tokens are and what their value is. Thanks to his desire to innovate and educate his audience about new technologies, the singer of Linkin Park has become one of the most important musicians to have already launched musical NFTs.
3. Whitney Houston
The half-sister of the late Whitney Houston sold an unreleased demo of the legendary soul singer, recorded when she was 17, for a whopping $ 1 million as NFT. The song is accompanied by a video by digital artist Diane Sinclair. Unfortunately for Whitney Houston lovers, the NFT-related song cannot be made public, and will forever remain in the hands of the lucky one who won it at auction. The proceeds were donated to the Whitney Houston Foundation, a non-profit association dedicated to empowering young women in the United States.
4. Achille Lauro
Italy, land of musical innovation? Definitely yes, at least for Achille Lauro. Known for his “eccentric” performances, Lauro is a well-known exponent of the trap also thanks to his appearances at the Sanremo Festival. But during his July 5th concert in Milan he unveiled his latest “sound-reactive” generative art project.
By “generative art” we mean art created randomly by some algorithms, starting from a set of characteristics set by the developers of the NFT collection. In this case, Achille Lauro collaborated with the students of the BigRock school for the "NFT live Superart" project, which will generate works of art based on the notes of his most famous songs. The creation of the works will take place live during his concerts. They will then go on sale in the fall, and the proceeds will all go to charity.
5. Ringo Starr
The Beatles drummer launching his NFTs? Well yes! Ringo Starr collaborated with Julien's Auction for a collection of 20 non-fungible tokens called "The Creative Mind of a Beatle". The collection consists of 5 animated paintings accompanied by the audio of a drum solo by Ringo Starr himself. Each painting is available in 4 unique copies - blockchain guaranteed! In addition to the digital animated painting, those who buy the NFT are entitled to a physical painting signed by the Beatles drummer, and can also ask Ringo Starr for a virtual meeting on the Spatial.io platform. A treat for Beatles fans!
Conclusions:
These 5 musicians and bands already using NFT are just the first to join the upcoming musical revolution!
The Web3 and blockchain have the potential to make the record industry fairer and fairer to artists, who dislike streaming platforms like Spotify. In addition, they allow you to establish a special relationship with the most die-hard fans.
In my opinion, NFT music is only at the beginning: sooner or later even your favorite artist will arrive on the blockchain!
