Several proposals for Bitcoin ETFs were submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) starting in 2013. In 2021 and early 2022, multiple asset management firms, including VanEck, Valkyrie Digital Assets, and ProShares, refiled their Bitcoin ETF proposals with the SEC. These proposals aimed to address previous concerns and leverage the success of the Canadian Bitcoin ETFs.

On March 28, 2003, the price of gold was approximately $327 per ounce. Following the launch of the GLD ETF, the price of gold experienced significant volatility and embarked on a multi-year bull market. From 2003 to 2011, the price of gold steadily rose, reaching its peak in September 2011 at around $1,920 per ounce.
