A great film. Mike Nichols' classic on connection, disconnection, and love has various powerful visual motifs, all well used, but the most powerful to me is the use of water as loneliness. (Written by Calder Willingham and Buck Henry, based on the novel by Charles Webb.)

If you rewatch the film, call it out every time you see water. It's an important visual tool here.
The most obvious example is Ben in the scuba gear in the pool alone.
It pushes him into the main question of the film--can I find connection? All alone, wide shot, underwater. We hear his voice start the call.

Mis-connection, disconnection, and misunderstanding all up until we take a chance on Mrs. Robinson, a glimmer of possible connection, foreshadowed through water to be a lonely venture or relationship--when you first see her enter Ben's room, you're looking through water.
Be well.
