All time classic. I rewatched the first ten/eleven minutes with a focus on story setup. It is so well done. Been on my mind for a few days.
Directed by Steven Spielberg
Written by Michael Crichton (novel), Michael Crichton (screenplay), David Koepp (screenplay).

Backstory and exposition are not always easy. Any science fiction film has double the challenge, so it's fun to see how each one gets it done.
In the first three or so minutes, basically in the opening, tell us what film we are seeing. Dinosaur eats someone. Got it.
Then bring in the lawyer to discuss the lawsuit of the death. Him being frustrated with Hammond not meeting him in person is great. All the more reason to underscore what is at stake.
Now let's meet Dr. Grant and Ellie.
Here the setup magic gets thick.

We have a scene that sets up our "showdown" monster along with almost every major theme, question, idea in the film.
We learn in no specific order:
▪ Grant is bad with tech
▪ Tech vs Nature idea
▪ Dino's are more bird than reptile
▪ Raptors are skilled killers and can see you even if you don't move.
▪ T-Rex can't see you if you don't move.
▪ Grant's doesn't like kids or has disdain for starting a family.
▪ Setup of Raptor claw as motif of this.
▪ Grant and Ellie have a good relationship.
All this goes down like honey in basically one perfectly interesting and well written scene.
Jam on, Jurassic Park.
Be well.
