A Memorable Evening at Basurhat: Friendship, Food & Fresh Air

Assalamu Alaikum dear readers,

I hope you all are doing well by the mercy of Almighty Allah. I'm doing fine too, Alhamdulillah. Wishing everyone in my beloved blogging family good health and endless happiness. Today, I’m here with another new story—this time, it’s a personal experience from a short yet memorable trip to Basurhat.

The Monotony of City Life and the Need for Escape

Our daily routine often feels robotic—work, responsibilities, the constant rush of urban life, and never-ending stress from both family and workplace. Sometimes even good things fail to bring joy. In the middle of all this, if we don’t get to hang out with friends for even a day, the entire week feels lifeless.
That’s why I believe it’s important to take a break sometimes, go somewhere with your friends, have a good chat, and simply refresh your mind. These small escapes make a big difference.

The Call That Started It All

Last Friday morning, I received a call from my younger brother-like friend, Akash. He insisted I visit Basurhat to meet him. Initially, I refused because I was quite busy, but he was persistent, saying it had been a long time since we last met. Eventually, I told him if I could manage time, I would definitely meet him.

Later that afternoon, I made time and decided to go. From Daganbhuiyan Bazar, the distance to Basurhat is about 15 kilometers. I took a CNG auto-rickshaw and headed straight there.

A Warm Conversation at the Office

Upon arriving, the first place I visited was Akash’s office. We spent around half an hour talking about various topics—current affairs, business ideas, social issues, and more. It felt good to engage in deep discussions and even make some plans on paper.
Though implementing those plans will be a challenge, I’m someone who enjoys taking on challenges. I must say, Akash is more energetic and hardworking than I am, which always inspires me.

Evening Time and the Special Food Spot

Suddenly we noticed it was already 7 PM. Since daylight ends early these days (around 5:30 PM), it already felt quite late. We decided to go for a snack.
Akash told me about a very special local restaurant in Basurhat where people actually wait in line to get served. Curious and excited, we walked there—it took only five minutes.

What we saw was unexpected: a huge crowd waiting to be seated. People were standing by tables, waiting for their turn. One of the main attractions there was Korall fish kebabs—each fish weighing 6–7 kg, and one portion costing around 4000 BDT! I was surprised by both the size and the price. Even then, people were waiting over an hour to be served!

We quickly decided not to go for the fish kebab. Instead, we ordered duck curry and paratha. After a 30-minute wait, the food finally arrived. And let me tell you—the taste was absolutely incredible.

Culinary Delights of Basurhat

I was amazed at how flavorful the food was. It made me realize that some of the best meals are hidden in unexpected corners of our country.
Here’s a brief list of what you’ll find at that eatery:

Spicy duck curry

Deshi chicken karahi

Korall fish kebabs

Crab curry

Biriyani

Traditional khichuri

All of them are rich in flavor and made with care. After such a satisfying meal, I decided I would definitely return to this place in the future.

Returning Home with a Full Heart

Around 9 PM, we wrapped up and I headed back to Daganbhuiyan. Once home, I freshened up and enjoyed a deep, peaceful sleep. It was a perfect ending to a refreshing day—a combination of friendship, conversation, and delicious food.
