Does The Usury Model Defeats The Purpose of Crypto?

In Mysterious Identity Of Satoshi Nakamoto Revealed? I exposed the real history and beginning of Bitcoin. I recommend all read it.  Part of the genesis of blockchain was to have a fair and equitable system of exchange where the identities of all participants were private but the transactions were 100% secure. What we now know as "trustless" protocols.

Well, the push for KYC and  ID verification put a slow down to that. You can exchange amongst each other but Big Brother must be able to voyeuristically monitor the whole system.

Then BTC was touted as digital gold, a hedge against FIAt and runaway inflation. However, what we see now is crypto "earn" programs popping up ll over the place. Now it's different when you hold the private keys yourself and are earning. But if you lend your cryptocurrency to an exchange or custodial company it's no different than a bank savings account.  Do these companies leverage their liquidity in the same fashion banks do with fiat? (10:1).

The question because if the whole idea of cryptocurrency and blockchain was to stand alongside, supplement, or even defeat the FIAT/Usury system as well as proliferate private peer to peer money transfers globally, would you consider it a failure thus far?
