I briefly dated somebody I immediately fell in for - like a teenage crush - after watching a YouTube video in which said person, let’s call this person Singer Turned Bodybuilder, covered one of my favourite songs.
Yes, I’m one of those people. I watch cover videos on YouTube.
Anyway, when I met Singer Turned Bodybuilder, I met somebody who was heavily into music, because Singer Turned Bodybuilder’s partner was a musician.
Fast forward to years later, Singer Turned Bodybuilder has completely given up on music and is lifting weights instead.
Singer Turned Bodybuilder’s arms are bigger than mine. And why?
Because Singer Turned Bodybuilder’s new partner is, you’ve guessed it, a bodybuilder.
At first, I didn’t get that. In fact I used to pity it. Because I’m open to new experiences but I never gave up on a passion of mine because of a new partner, and neither have I ever bought into a completely new passion for a new partner.
But then I figured maybe Singer Turned Bodybuilder is just trying to fit. Just trying to keep busy with something to do.
We talk a lot about bad food and stress and too much alcohol and drugs and lack of sleep and so on.
But boredom is the real killer. Having no purpose, no ideas, no goal, no matter how trivial it may be, is very unhealthy.
