When you hear people say "inflation is not real", or "inflation is not that bad" - show them this video.

This is what $2,500 (rent) per month gets you in New York City.

There's no mention of where the apt is actually located, but I'm gonna give it a wild guess and assume that's not Manhattan.

But that's beside the point. The apt, according to @rent_ny, is the 'best' they could find under 150 sq ft.

You've got some storage, which you have no way of accessing it, recessed lighting, just enough space for a twin mattress ('upstairs').

Then you've got AC with a remote, a tiny kitchen cabinet, a full size fridge, four burner stove, micro-wave and... you gotta use the sink in the bathroom.

The bathroom is okay, though. It's brand new, or at least it looks it.

And I kinda like the fact they've allocated most of the bathroom space for the shower, which in my view is exactly what you should do.

New York City is one of the most expensive places in the world to live, with an average monthly cost of $1,500 - and that's for one person, WITHOUT including rent.

According to data aggregator Numbeo, NYC citizens typically have to spend roughly 48 percent of their salary on rent.

The average salary is NYC is $6,500. A one-bedroom apartment in the hot spots will set you back $4,000 or more.

The same apartment in a less popular area will cost anywhere between $2,600 and $3,000.
